CHAPTER: The Awakening of the First Path
Aboard the USS Oregon – The Rings Activate
No one on the bridge breathed when the message faded.
THEN THE PATH SHALL OPEN.
The Rings—three vast megastructures suspended like celestial crowns around the Cornia Nebula—began rotating. Not physically, but in shimmering layers of energy, as if they were peeling back dimensions themselves.
A low hum trembled through the hull.
“Captain…” Nikolai Ivanov whispered. “The Rings are initiating a quantum-phase shift. They’re unlocking something… enormous.”
Captain Kira Sato rose from her chair, steadying herself against the subtle vibration.
“Lieutenant Lin, status?”
Mei Lin swallowed. “Energy lattice forming between the Rings. Looks like a wormhole—but this… this is beyond wormhole physics.”
Commander Marcus Turner stared at the engineering display, awestruck.
“This field is perfectly stable. No fluctuation. No turbulence. It’s a corridor—maintained by a system older than our star charts.”
“Could it be a transportation system?” asked First Officer George Turner.
“Not just transportation,” Mei replied softly.
“It’s a message. And an invitation.”
Onscreen, the Rings aligned.
The corridor opened—an endless tunnel of shimmering starlight stretching into a place the Oregon had no map for.
